The answer is – anywhere where you find firm and flat surface.

You don’t always need a mat to strike a yoga pose. That is specially true with standing poses. One of my favorite surfaces to practice yoga is a good, old, hard wood floor.

I don’t recommend practicing yoga on a carpet and here is why.

Foundation and Alignment:

A stable foundation is necessary for proper alignment and injury prevention in yoga poses. Soft surfaces such as carpets or a tick, spongy  yoga mat are not stable platforms

Stability and Focus:

To practice yoga, a proper alignment  is a key to your practice. For proper aliment you will need a solid and firm surface. You will need an as tong foundation for the good aliment. A proper alignment is essential in preventing injuries while learning.

Wrist Injuries:

This is the most common type of injuries for yoga practitioners. Yogi put lots of pressure  in their wrists and therefore are more suspectable to wrist injuries. When you injure your wrist while practicing yoga, it is caused by sprain or tear and a various level of pain along the inside of your wrist. It is essential to modify your poses while the writs is healing.

What else should you keep in mind:

The other typical injuries are lower back, shoulders and knee injuries. To prevent those injuries, it is important to practice on solid and firm surface that will allow you to maintain a good balance. With that said, not all yoga poses are good for everyone and it is important to listen to your body. Yoga can be your only sport, if you wish, Be prepare to practice 30 minutes per day and gradually learn at least 50 asanas. One good yoga mat is by far more economic that expensive sport equipment.

Back to the beginning…you don’t even need a mat. Yoga  is a  harmony and sense of oneness. Be the one that accepts and loves the oneness in all the unique and different and find the connection! Make peace and be the peace . Namaste 🙏❤️
